Little Joe's Pizza Adventure #2 brought us to Brooklyn Pizza, 30 Grace Drive, Powell, OH 43065, 614-436-8900. Brooklyn Pizza is rather new to the Powell area and not along the main drag of the dainty downtown area. If no one told you about Brooklyn Pizza, it may be missed! Fortunately, Little Joe's, Poppy and Grandmom Delmonico saw a write up in one of those freebie newspapers that come to your house that I always throw directly into the recycle bin! Poppy Delmonico visited Brooklyn Pizza and claimed it was the closest thing to "east coast" pizza by the slice he has had yet in Columbus. So off we went to Brooklyn Pizza! The pizza shop is in a very small strip center on Grace Drive. The pizza shop itself was just that; a pizza shop with an odd set up for customers that stop by for a slice of "za". Only two tables and some chairs pushed against the wall. Of Course, both tables were taken and some other people were standing holding paper plates looking somewhat annoyed. Only a couple slices remained, so I opted to order a whole pie, just how Little Joe likes it, Plain Cheese, please!

It took about 20 minutes for our pie to come out and a table did eventually open up. During those 20 minutes it gave me time to watch the kitchen antics of the staff as you can see all aspects of the pizza process while you wait. Little Joe thought watching how pizza was made was fantastic. Little Joe noted some items on "how to make pizza". First you need dough and you have to shape it into a circle, second spread sauce, third add cheese, fourth cook, and last EAT! Little Joe also thought it was fun to watch them open and close the oven doors to check on all the pizzas! While Little Joe was enthralled with the pizza process I noticed that the restroom was in a strange location. The restroom was at the back of the kitchen and I was not sure why you would want people tromping through the kitchen. Luckily, Little Joe did not have to go! Now for the PIZZA! This pie was super hot! The cheese was sliding right off and Little Joe thought it was really funny to make the cheese go down the pizza slide! The pizza was so hot that I had to cut up Little Joe's slice because he could not wait for it to cool down! He was absolutely starving because it had been an hour since his snack for goodness sake. Then it dawned on me that, I had to give the pizza the fold test. Which I know nothing about other than rumblings from east coasters that you fold the pizza because it so thin and that's the way you're supposed to eat it! Little Joe said the garlic flavor was excellent and also noted that a little parmesan cheese sprinkled on top could not hurt. After a few bites, Little Joe determined that Brooklyn Pizza was the best pizza ever! I on the other hand, thought that the dough was undercooked and the sauce could use a little more zing as far as flavor is concerned and there could have been more sauce on the actual pizza. After we polished off the whole pie (no worries Little Joe's sister helped eat too!), I handed my business card to the guy serving slices and he then approached the owner, who also is the only one making ALL the pizzas and told him about my blog. The owner, kindly smacked the card away and said something along lines of, great just what he needs as he couldn't handle the business he had now. I was surprised and decided that the only thing Brooklyn about Brooklyn Pizza is the owner's attitude. Will I go back? Yes and No. I would not go back for a Dine In but may order a Take Out pizza.
