Spaghetti and Meatballs 'Verdi Style'
Does anyone else get those Papermint Coupon Magazines?  I saw an add for Verdi Italian, 7770 Olentangy River Road, Worthington Hills, OH 43235, 614-457-3900 and they advertised, "Best Meatball in Columbus".  So, Little Joe and I set off on another quest to find the yummiest meatball in town.  Worthington Hills is at the end of the 315N highway where it turns back into a state route two lane road and Verdi Italian is in the same plaza as the Hills Market.  Little Joe and I arrived and I got an eerie feeling when we were the only car parked in front of the restaurant.   Upon entering there was a terrible odor and a man yelling on the phone behind the register counter. NO ONE else was in there but us.  Again, I thought maybe I should leave.  The man waved us over to a booth, while still shouting on the phone.  Little Joe and I sat down and I asked Little Joe, " Do you think it smells in here?"  Little Joe said, "Yeah, its smells like toilets."   Then the man tossed some menus on the table and went back to his phone call.  The dining area was very small and there were signs taped all over the walls advertising specials.  I told Little Joe, I think we should leave and he said no let's stay; maybe this place is just a dinner place and not a busy lunch place.  OK Little Joe, maybe you're right, maybe the food is good and the guy and location are just creepy.  Little Joe ordered the Kids Pizza and I ordered Spaghetti and Meatballs.  We were served our drinks in paper cups with Pepsi logos and then the guy went and flipped the on switch on the pizza oven.  Strange, the ovens were not on? Is no one else coming here for lunch?  I got another odd feeling and thought I better text someone and tell them where I was just as a precaution!  Next they guy brought out a basket of garlic bread and then right back to his yelling on the phone.  This man never said hello, welcome, NOTHING.  Our food arrived and the Spaghetti Noodles were buried in a thick chunky tomato sauce with lots of chopped onions and spinach leaves.  What the heck is this I thought? THIS IS NOT ITALIAN FOOD.  The same sauce was on the Kids Pizza.  Ok, here I go, I took a bite and it was not really spaghetti sauce it was more like a Vegetable Ragout.  The flavors were not awful, but again NOT Italian.  I tasted the meatball, which also had chopped spinach in the mixture and it really did not have much flavor other than salt, pepper and spinach.  WEIRD! Little Joe said the crust was OK on his pizza, but the sauce was "gross".  Little Joe tasted the meatball and said, I like spinach but not in meatballs and Tommy's meatballs are better.  I waved at the screaming man on the phone and asked for our check and I kindly took the boxed leftovers as I was afraid that I would insult him if I left them behind!  Come on Little Joe, let's get the heck out of here and spread the word.... Verdi Italian is NOT Italian food in my opinion; the service and atmosphere were CREEPY and please BEWARE......
SMAC NOT APPROVED EVER!
