Last week at Infinity Fitness, my trainer, Alyson put us through a very grueling workout.  At least I had a few companions to sweat with me this time as there were 3 more people that showed up.  We were doing a lot of leg work, including lots of squats while lifting weights.  Then after that, Alyson said it was time to work on those "6 pack abs".  I mumbled, "I was overweight before I had kids and I am pretty sure I will never have 6 pack abs".  Alyson told me, "Not with that bad attitude".  That's right folks, I have a bad attitude about my abs.  Really?  A lot of women who are thin and fit make a great come back with getting their "pre-baby" figure back, but I was at my largest size pre-kids.  Will I really ever have 6 pack abs? Are there any stats on this phenomenon?  Needless to say, I was not pleased that someone thought I had a bad attitude, so during our abs session, I really tried to stick with how the exercise was presented instead of doing an alternate easier move (which I tend to do).  I'll tell you what, for 3 days after I could feel the tension in my abs which I took as a sign that maybe there is a chance to IMPROVE my abs, but I am still doubtful I will ever have a "6 pack", unless maybe it beer.   How many of you have your "pre-baby" figure? Any 6 pack abs out there post children?  What are your thoughts and do you have any suggestions as to how to improve the look of my abs?

Cottage Cheese.  No I am not talking about the way my thighs look.  I am talking about the actual food, cottage cheese. Never before in my life have I tasted cottage cheese.  I just cant seem to get past the hideous look of cottage cheese.  I decided to buy cottage cheese because it seems logical. Here's my definition and justification for purchasing cottage cheese: low fat, low-sugar, high protein, high calcium item = get skinny!  So, this morning I opened the snack pack size of cottage cheese and immediately made a face of disgust. Do people really eat this? My lovely friend,  Mona suggested adding diced tomatoes and salt and pepper on top of the cottage cheese. I thought that sounded good since I LIKE tomatoes. So I chopped some roma tomatoes and added to the cottage cheese mountain on my plate and then added salt and pepper and then stared at my creation.  I then decided the cottage cheese needed a side of turkey sausage and one fried egg in case it didn't work out.  Alas, I lift my spoon and shovel a bite of cottage cheese and tomatoes into my mouth.....and as predicted it was the most disgusting texture and I realized this is EXACTLY why I have never eaten this before!........ breathe breathe,....... think skinny, think skinny.  I take yet another bite and NOPE barely going down the esophagus. I panic and think I cannot puke out cottage cheese because that has to be a worse sight than actually looking at the stuff in the container!  I get my self through the second bite with some deep breathing and stare at my plate. There is NO WAY, I can go for a third bite, but I remind myself how it took a few times for me to get used to Greek yogurt after all those years of sugary yogurts.  I go in for the third bite and seriously gag, but manage not to puke.  Needless to say, the remaining cottage cheese on my plate went to garbage heaven.  Anyone want 3 cottage cheese snack packs?

Well, its the New Year and everyone is at the gym! There is always a huge influx of people who make resolutions to get in shape! With that in mind, I looked around the room in my step aerobics class and saw many new facesof people who might not be back next week.  Our instructor, worked us so hard that I thought some of the newbies in the back might pass out! Was she trying to weed out the weak links like on the reality series?  Geez! Break us in easy after the holidays.  On another note I had my last  training session at Infinity Fitness and at the last session they offered 25% off another 4 weeks.  I decided to take the offer and go for another 4 weeks! Mona did not sign up, which is odd for us as we are fitness buddies.  I had my first solo session tonight, and I really mean SOLO.  No one showed up for the class but me tonight!!!  Talk about intense, just you and the trainer watching you sweat, struggle and turn red in the face with determination.  All I can say is that Mona would be proud because I have a very profound fear of falling up or down steps and often skip jumping onto the step in aerobics class.  WELL, tonight I tried a new exercise thanks to my trainer, Alyson!  I did back extensions on this piece of equipment where you hang upside down with your hips pressed down on mats while your legs are extended behind you under these bolsters for balance.  I was scared! Luckily I made it through with encouragement!  I am really geared up for another 3 weeks at Infinity Fitness!  Does anyone else have a place that is a good fit for their workout regimen?
