November 5-Tadka Restaurant
Picture
Val and I recently went to Tadka, an Indian restaurant located off of Sawmill/161 in Dublin.  We used a coupon from Costco's flyer for "buy 1, get 1 free buffet with a drink purchase."  (A lunch buffet costs $9.99 per person.)  We decided to hit the buffet on a Friday at 11 am to see if it was SMAC worthy or not!  The atmosphere was clean and simple with tables adorned with black tablecloth and chairs and Indian artwork in the dining area.  When we got to our table we were freezing because their heater was broken and was in the process of getting fixed (it would have been nice of them to tell us this in advance instead of us figuring this out on our own!) but the did have the buffet ready to go!  I think because of the lack of heat,  the food must have just gotten on the burners and so it was a little cold.  The buffet consisted of a plain rice, chicken biryani rice (chicken seasoned w/ spices), vegetable biryani w rice (same spices as chicken biryani but w/o the chicken!) chicken with saag (spinach), lamb curry, green bean fagout, 2 dals (lentil soups), 2 vegetable dishes.  They also served fresh hot warm bread to our table after we filled our plate up with food.  Overall, the food was pretty good.  Our second trip back up to the buffet consisted of us eating dessert-gulab jamin (layman's terms-fried doughnuts with sugary syrup) and ras maili (sweetened condensed milk with vermicelli noodles).  Valerie really enjoyed the masala tea (cardamon, cloves and other spices).  It definatley helped her warm up!  So with our coupon and tip it was about $16 for 2 people!  This is definatley worth the trip to Dublin. Another noteworthy tip--Tadka is a chain which is located in Atlanta, Cleveland and Chicago. SMAC Approved!
